I had a checked cashed by another party?
I wrote a check to my mortgage company and accidentally sent it to my cable company. Well, the cable company cashed it. It was not written out to them. I am beyond furious that they cashed it, because now they say it will take two weeks plus processing time to get my money back. Was it even legal for them to cash it?
That HAS to be illegal. That is SO lame. And what also sucks is that your bank apparently can’t be bothered to look at the Payee line on your check. It didn’t match the depositor’s company name. But someone just let it go through – at BOTH companies.
I would POLITELY raise hell with the bank. Tell them you are taking your account elsewhere. That might light a fire under their butts. Do this in person and ask them how they allowed a check to be made out to an entirely different entity to be processed. You’ll hear “umm, IDK”. Time to switch banks if they can’t perform bank tranactions properly.
Something similar to this happened to me – I accidentally paid my cable bill twice – they just took both payments and gave me a credit towards my next bill. Cable companies are an industry that seriously needs some regulation and provision for competition – as opposed to the 99% monopolies each of them enjoy in a given area. Hence, they are essentially free to raise rates at thier whim. This is NOT the American way. More like OPEC’s way.
I am behind on monthly mortgage payments. Can my mortgage company credit my escrow refund without my approval?
I really need to get my car repaired. I’d rather use the money for that and catch up on my mortgage later. They said I had to apply the check to my arrears.
Absolutely they can. And unless you want to lose your house, you better talk to them right away and go over this stuff. They hate it when you fall behind and don’t let them know what’s going on. They may be willing to negotiate a little, but they won’t once you’re too deep in the hole.
Do I have a chance to win the $ 1 Million a year for life?
It would be so nice if I could win it as I would really love to pay off all my debts as well as my daughter’s.I would then buy a House with a Cashiers Check, leaving no Mortgage payments for my daughter & 2 granddaughter’s to worry about.
That would be great, or, would it? So many win the jackpot, only, to lose real friends, and, gain fair weather friends who only care about you for your money. If you win I hope you take care not to let this happen. The odds are not that good though. I gave up on the lottery after 30 years. Good luck and take care. You know your granddaughter’s will love you anyway. OH sorry, your daughter will love you to. Money won’t buy love or happiness.
can all banking activity be moved to a credit union, mortgages, checking, saving, and how to i find and join?
i have read enough to know credit unions seem to be better than banks. and i really don’t like my bank. how do i take the 1st step to finding a credit union
Don’t waste your time looking up area credit unions because you may not be able to join all of them. Credit unions have field of membership requirements which dictate who is eligible to join. Try using the following search tool to find a credit union in your area that you can join:
This should help make your search quicker and easier.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Can my mortgage lender take away funds from my checking account without my permission?
I’m almost three months behind with my mortgage payments. I bank with Bank of America which also happends to be the parent company of my lender (LaSalle Bank). Do they have the right to take my money? Do you think my lender is aware I have a checking account with them?
Check your contracts on both the mortgage and the checking account. You probably agreed to this when you signed them. If you’re behind on your mortgage, then yes they can take the money from your checking to pay the mortgage.
